Consent: Using a person’s ashes for art is legal only if you are the legal owner of the remains and have the proper consent. By completing this form and signing below, you are giving consent as such.

Ownership & desecration: When a body is cremated, the resulting ashes are legally considered the property of the next of kin or the person named in the will to take possession. Taking or misusing ashes without the owner’s consent could potentially be seen as disrespecting human remains – a crime in all 50 U.S. states. If the ashes belong to someone else, you need their permission to use them.

Health & safety: Ashes are not considered a biohazard because the cremation process, which occurs at temperatures between 1400F and 1800F, sterilizes the remains. This makes them safe to handle and incorporate into art mediums such as glass. 

Care and handling: The artist who will create your custom keepsake will treat your pet’s or loved one’s ashes with care and respect during the creation process. Please understand that custom art at this level will take some time, but your artist will work as quickly as possible with respect.
